|
Return to Complete List of Functions |
The Arctangent (x,y) function calculates the arctangent of a given pair of x,y coordinates.
Parameters ------------------- x-coordinate The x-axis value to use in the calculation. y-coordinate The y-axis value to use in the calculation.
Function Value ------------------------ The arctangent of coordinates is the angle from the x-axis to a line containing the origin and the point at the given coordinates. The returned angle is given in radians in the range -pi to pi, not including -pi. This value is roughly equivalent to the arctangent of x divided by y, except that it is defined at y = 0.
The functions DegreesToRadians and RadiansToDegrees can be used to use this function with values in degrees.
To calculate the arctangent of an angle, use the Arctangent function.
