Return to Complete List of Functions |
The Cumulative Normal Distribution function calculates the probability that a value exists which is less than the input in a series with mean of 0 and a standard deviation of 1.
Parameters ------------------ Value The value to examine . This is typically a field in a data series or a calculated value.
Function Value ------------------------ The cumulative distribution function is defined as the probability that a series has a value less than the given value. The standard normal version of function calculates this probability for a series with a mean of 0 and a standard deviation of 1.
Note that calculating the actual value of the cumulative distribution function is computationally intensive. Therefore, a common formula for approximating this value is used.
This function is useful for computing probabilty-based pricing functions, such as Black-Scholes option pricing. |
