TradingSolutions Function Library
| Current Position of Signal [CurPos] |
|
Return to Complete List of Functions |
The Current Position of Signal function determines the position that an entry/exit signal would currently be in if it were being traded.
Parameters ------------------ Signal The entry/exit signal to evaluate.
The signal parameter does not need to be formatted to be displayed as a signal to be used in this function.
Function Value ------------------------ This function returns the position that an entry/exit signal would currently be in if it were being traded. Specifically, it finds the most recent entry signal and returns either that signal or the most recent exit signal that counteracts it if one has occurred since then.
Enter Long: Long in Market Enter Short: Short in Market Exit Long: Out of Market, Most Recently in Long Exit Short: Out of Market, Most Recently in Short Hold: Out of Market, No Entry Encountered
Note that this function is significantly different from the Current Position value of a signal analysis field. Signal analysis fields take into account the settings of a trading style, including stops, limits, and trading on the next day's open. This function only looks at the current value of the signal by itself. |
