TradingSolutions v2.0 Build 011210 is
now available from NeuroDimension. The current build fixes minor problems encountered
in the first build of Version 2.0. A patch is available to upgrade from
TradingSolutions v2.0 to the current build.
Version 2.0 Build 011210 solves some problems that Solution
Service users have had with accessing the service from behind a firewall. It
also adds a handy Chart button to the Information View that displays a quick
chart of the Primary Signal or the Service Signal, as well as other minor bug
fixes.
Upgrading to the new build is free. Current customers require no additional activation codes to upgrade to
this new build. Users of the free evaluation version can also upgrade to this
new build. Simply install the upgrade and start enjoying the new features.
For information on upgrading to the latest
version, as well as a complete list of the changes made in this build, see http://www.tradingsolutions.com/download/updates.html
You can determine the current version
and build of your TradingSolutions installation by selecting About
TradingSolutions from the Help menu.

TradingSolutions.com has been completely redesigned.
Introduced in the end of November, this new website includes many new features
to introduce you to TradingSolutions. These include: an informative tour of the
TradingSolutions software and what it can do for you, answers to frequently
asked questions about TradingSolutions technology, and many other useful
sections.
If you haven’t visited TradingSolutions.com within the last
month, you will definitely want to stop by and see what’s new at http://www.tradingsolutions.com

If you have spent any time using TradingSolutions, you
probably know that you can right-click on any group or data series name in the
Portfolio View to see a context menu of actions that you can perform. However,
what many people don’t realize is that you can also right-click on the
associated Display Fields to perform additional actions.
Here are a few examples of the timesaving options available
from the context menus for display fields.
Display in Chart…
This opens the Display Chart Dialog with the selected field
pre-selected. As of Build 011210, if a signal field is selected, this also
pre-selects the default price information to display along with the signal.
From there, simply press OK to see a chart of the selected field.
Modify Field…
This opens the selected field directly for modification.
This saves you the added steps of selecting “Modify Fields…” for a group or
data series, selecting the field you want to modify, and pressing the Modify
button.
Analyze Signal…
For signals and signal analysis fields, this displays a
detailed analysis of the selected signal. This saves you the added steps of
selecting “Analyze Signals…” for a data series, selecting the signal you want
to analyze, and pressing the Analyze button.

TradingSolutions Version 2.0 introduced Primary, Secondary,
and Service Signals. This feature makes tracking and analyzing the signals you
would like to trade much easier than in previous versions. Here is a quick
overview of how they work.
What’s the Scenario?
Let’s say that you have created several different entry/exit
signals for a particular stock. You may have tried creating neural network
models with different inputs. Maybe you have also applied some traditional
entry/exit systems or even combined these methods using committees. Using “Analyze
Signals…” from the context menu on the Portfolio View, you have compared these
signals and found one that you would like to watch or trade – how can you do
that?
The Solution
Using Display Fields in the Portfolio View, you can display
current values and analyses of your favorite signals. Display Fields allow you
to display the current recommendation that a signal has for a particular stock,
as well as customizable analyses of how the signal would have traded over a
recent period of time.
Prior to Version 2.0, all of the fields that you would have
wanted to display in a group had to have the same name in order to be displayed
in a single display field column. This is where the Primary Signal comes in.
The Primary Signal
The Primary Signal allows you to mark a field containing an
entry/exit signal as being one you would like to watch or trade. From the
“Analyze Signals…” comparison dialog, simply select a signal and press the
“Make Primary” button. Your Primary Signals can then be displayed in a single column
in the Portfolio View by selecting to display the Primary Signal. In fact,
users with portfolios created in version 2.0 will notice that the Primary
Signal is added as a display field by default.
You can also use the Primary Signal in calculations. For
example, you can create continuously updated signal analyses for all of your
Primary Signals. You can then display those analyses in your Portfolio View
next to the Primary Signals.
And, as you saw above in “Quick Tips”, you can also display
quick charts and analyses of your displayed signals with just a few clicks of
the mouse.
Secondary and Service Signals
In addition to the Primary Signal, a Secondary Signal is
also available. The Secondary Signal is typically used when you already have a
Primary Signal you are trading, but would like to keep an eye on a second
approach to same stock. It can also be used to keep track of signals created
with two different trading styles, such as one using long trades only for an
IRA account, and one using both long and short trades for another account.
The Service Signal is similar to the Secondary Signal. When
you sign up for the free TradingSolutions Solution Service, it points to the
entry/exit signal currently being produced for each stock being followed in the
service. This allows different models and different approaches to be used for
each stock, while allowing them all to be displayed in the same place. It also
allows the Solution Service to display different signals from what you are
currently trading.
You can
find out more about the Primary, Secondary, and Service Signals in the chapter
of the help called “Creating and Analyzing Entry/Exit Signals”, under the
heading “Primary, Secondary, and Service Signals”.

Many TradingSolutions users read Technical Analysis of
Stocks and Commodities (TASC), the Traders’ Magazine. It’s a great way to
trade smarter with detailed information on trading strategies, charting
patterns, indicators, and computerized trading methods. As a free service to
our users, we arrange for the “Traders’ Tips” section of the magazine to
include tips and techniques for implementing many of the indicators found in
the magazine in TradingSolutions.
Each time a tip is included in the magazine, we also include
the implemented functions in the Solution Library on our web site. These
functions can be imported into either the full version or the evaluation
version of TradingSolutions and are completely free. Visit the Solution Library
