Import Data Wizard: Select Symbols to Download
The Import Data Wizard allows you to import data into your portfolio, as well as update existing data. This page allows you to select specific ticker symbols to download from the Internet.
Ä Note: If you select symbols that are currently in your portfolio, any duplicate dates will be overwritten with the downloaded data.

Selecting Symbols to Import
¨ Select From:
The following options are available for selecting or entering symbols to import:
· Manual Entry
This option allows you to manually enter symbols in the Symbols box. Multiple symbols can be separated with commas or semi-colons.
Ä Note: The format of non-US-stock symbols may be different for each data source. Most data sources have symbol tables available on their websites.
Ä Note: Special TradingSolutions-specific options are available for Interactive Brokers symbols. For more information, see Importing Data from Interactive Brokers.
· Indices
This option allows you to select from index symbols for the selected Data Source and Exchange. The list can be searched by entering the starting letters of the company in the Find Name box.
· Stocks
This option allows you to select from stock symbols for the selected Data Source and Exchange. Only stocks starting with the letter in the Starting With box are displayed. The list can be searched by entering the starting letters of the company in the Find Name box.
· Mutual Funds
This option allows you to select from mutual fund symbols for the selected Data Source and Exchange. Only mutual funds starting with the letter in the Starting With box are displayed. The list can be searched by entering the starting letters of the fund in the Find Name box.
· Futures
This option allows you to select from U.S. Futures base symbols and settings. The symbol is constructed appropriately for the selected Data Source. See below for more information about the available settings.
Ä Note: A warning will be generated if the selected Exchange does not appear to be appropriate for the Futures trading. Default exchanges suitable for this data include "U.S. Commodity Futures (General)" and "U.S. Index Futures (General)".
· FOREX
This option allows you to select FOREX currency pairs and settings for FOREX Spot trading. The symbol is constructed appropriately for the selected Data Source. See below for more information about the available settings.
Ä Note: A warning will be generated if the selected Exchange does not appear to be appropriate for the FOREX Spot trading. Default exchanges suitable for this data include "U.S. FOREX Trading".
After making an entry or selection, press Add Symbol to add the symbol. You can also double-click on items in the selection list to add them.
Ä Note: The lists of symbols included in TradingSolutions is only a subset of all of the symbols available from individual data services. New symbols and entire exchanges may not appear in the list. To import other symbols, simply enter them using Manual Entry. Complete lists of symbols available for each service are available from the websites of each data source.
Additional Options
¨ Exchange
This setting is used to set the exchange associated with the symbols as they are selected. For Indices, Stocks, and Mutual Funds, this value will affect which symbols are displayed in the list.
Ä Note: This setting can be changed later; however, only data which matches the market times specified in the exchange will be imported.
¨ Futures Settings
· Continuous
This setting indicates to obtain continuous contract data from the data source.
Ä Note: Continuous contracts are not available from IQFeed.
· Adjusted
This setting indicates to obtain an adjusted continuous contract data from the data source.
Ä Note: Adjusted contracts are currently only available from Prophet.
· For Month/Year
This setting indicates to obtain a contract for a specific month/year.
¨ FOREX Settings
· Base Currency
This setting indicates the base currency to use for the FOREX pair.
Ä Note: If USD is selected and a currency with an asterisk is selected, the pair will automatically be inverted. For example, selecting Euro will result in the EUR/USD pair being selected.
Ä Note: TradingSolutions currently does not support full analysis of foreign pairs. If you import a foreign pair, you can optimize and analyze trading performance. However, the effects of converting to and from your currency will not be included.
· Source (IQFeed Only)
This setting indicates the source to use for the FOREX data. IQFeed uses difference symbols for data from its different FOREX data providers.
¨ Remove
To remove symbols from the currently selected symbol list, select the symbols you would like to remove from list and press the Remove button.
What Do I Do Next?
After you have selected the symbols that you would like to import, press the Next button to continue on to the Start Import page. If you would prefer not to import any data at this time, press the Cancel button. If you would like to change the type of import being performed, press the Back button.
