Signal Analysis Options Dialog: Trading Style

 

The Signal Analysis Options Dialog allows you to modify the values used to analyze the signals for a specific data series or field. The Trading Style page allows you to specify the trading style to use when analyzing signals. When opened for a field, the trading style can be overridden for a specific analysis.

Selecting a Trading Style

A trading style is a named collection of settings that you use to indicate how you like to trade. It includes settings for how much you invest, whether you use stops and limits, and other things.

¨    Trading Style (for Data Series)

This is the default trading style TradingSolutions will use when it analyzes the entry/exit signals for this data series. It is primarily used for the analysis of Buy/Hold.

¨    Base Trading Style (for Fields)

This is the trading style TradingSolutions will use when it analyzes the entry/exit signal produced by this field.

This button will display the Define Trading Styles Dialog where you can modify currently defined trading styles or create new ones.

Overriding a Trading Style

When specifying the trading style for the analysis of a specific signal, you can override many of the values of the base trading style. This allows you to try modifying specific things without creating entirely new trading styles.

þ    Override Base Trading Style…

This checkbox indicates that the selected trading style will be modified specifically for this field.

Common Overrides to a Trading Style

The values displayed in the Common Overrides section are the trading style values which are most often updated. They also include values which can be optimized. For more information on each of these values, see the corresponding help for the Modify Trading Style Dialog.

Ä    Note: Values annotated with a ‘@’ sign are currently selected to be optimized.

þ    Delay Entry / Limit Slippage

This value corresponds to the Entry Limits settings on the Entry/Exit Strategy page.

þ    Stop Loss / Loss Trail

This value corresponds to the Loss Protection settings on the Entry/Exit Strategy page.

þ    Take Profit

This value corresponds to the Profit Taking settings on the Entry/Exit Strategy page.

þ    Stop Length / Length Trail

This value corresponds to the Length Restriction settings on the Entry/Exit Strategy page.

¨    Re-enter

This value corresponds to the Re-enter After Stop setting on the Entry/Exit Strategy page.

¨    Initial Accounts

This value corresponds to the Initial Account Size setting on the General Settings page.

¨    Types of Trades

This value corresponds to the Types of Trades setting on the General Settings page.

¨    Position Size

This value corresponds to the Position Size setting on the General Settings page.

¨    Slippage

This value corresponds to the Slippage setting on the Entry/Exit Strategy page.

p    Reset Values To Base Style

This button resets the overridden values to be equal to the Base Trading Style.

p    Access All Override Settings…

This button displays the Modify Trading Style Dialog for complete access to the trading style settings.

What Do I Do Next?

When you are finished modifying the signal analysis options, press the OK button to use your changes or select another property page. If you would like to exit from this dialog without saving your changes, press the Cancel button.

Additional Property Pages

The Signal Analysis Options Dialog has the following property pages.

0   Analysis Range

This page allows you to specify the date range to use when analyzing for signals.

0   Trading Style

This page allows you to specify the trading style to use when analyzing signals.

How Did I Get Here?

The Signal Analysis Options Dialog appears for a data series when you select the Change… button from the Modify Data Series Dialog: Trading Signals page. It is displayed for a specific field when you select the Change… button on the Modify Field Dialog: Signal Analysis page, Overview sub-page.
