Modify Data Source Settings Dialog

The Modify Data Source Settings Dialog allows you to modify settings associated with a data source, such as your username and password.

&  For help with data sources, see Configuring Data Sources.

Modifying Data Source Settings

The following settings can be modified on this dialog.

¨    Username

This setting is the username that uniquely identifies you to this particular data source.

¨    Password

This setting is the password that allows you to access the account associated with the username.

Ä    Note: Your username and password are typically assigned during the registration process. If you would like to request a new username or password, exit from this dialog and press the Update Account… button on the Configure Data Sources Dialog. However, usernames and passwords may not be modifiable for all data sources.

Ä    Note: A username and password are not required to be entered into TradingSolutions for some data sources. If a username and password are required for your account, they would be entered into the setup information for that data source directly.

¨    Streaming Data

This setting indicates how TradingSolutions should create streaming bars.

¨    Build new streaming bars from ticks when entire bar available. (Default)

By default, TradingSolutions will collect all of the ticks reported by the data source and build new bars from them. This is the fastest option, but it may result in some ticks being assigned to different bars than the data source assigns them to due to time stamping or Internet delays.

Ä    Note: This problem is more likely with some data sources than others. In most cases, the built bars will match those provided by the data source.

Ä    Note: The data source may correct their historical bars over time. Because of this, it is still possible that bars created with either method will not match data downloaded at a later time.

¨    Download streaming bars from historical data when completed.

This setting causes TradingSolutions to wait until a new bar should be available from the data source and download it automatically. This option takes a few extra seconds than building the bars directly. However, the bars will match the historical data on the data source.

Ä    Note: The data source may correct their historical bars after they are delivered. Also, data sources with multiple data servers may combine their ticks differently on the difference servers. Therefore, it is still possible that bars created with this method will not match data downloaded at a later time.
